When will we hear the result of our re-rating
We normally communicate the results of a re-rating near the end of the year and before any WHS Course and Slope Rating is officially released to the golf club, the figures are reviewed by Scottish Golf.
This is particularly important if a rating could potentially change.
We do this for a number of reasons, firstly to check that common factors that can impact the rating significantly, have been consistently applied across the ratings for both Men and Women and across all eighteen holes.
This can include:
- Green Speeds;
- Average Rough Height;
- Green Surface (Contouring and Slope).
We also do this to ensure all appropriate Crossing and Lateral Objects have been accounted for, the correct additional adjustments for "Stroke and Distance" as well as Recoverability and Rough have been properly detailed in the rating.
Once we have reviewed the two individual ratings (for Men and Women) the overall rating figures are reviewed alongside the ratings from other courses that were visited that year - we do this to compare the results and to ensure that the figures are in proper relation to other golf courses.
This is a requirement of the WHS Course Rating license.
