Legal structure support for Golf Clubs

Legal structure support for Golf Clubs

Scottish Golf is committed to strengthening governance when it comes to the legal structure of member clubs.

The majority of Scotland’s golf clubs are unincorporated (60%) and with this comes considerable risk of legal liability for individual office-bearers and club officials.

Through our partnership with Club Development Consultancy, affiliated clubs may now apply for direct support as they work towards a change of legal status.

For example, for clubs considering SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) status, support will include drafting a new constitution, preparing resolutions for AGM/EGM, submitting SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation) forms, transference of assets and dissolution of an unincorporated club.

Similar levels of support are available for clubs looking at other ways to incorporate via, for example,  a company limited by guarantee and CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club) applications.

To apply for Scottish Golf support on a club’s change of legal status please email clubsupport@scottishgolf.org.
