Creating a custom trackable link to measure Email/Web engagement

1. There are many different companies that offer these kinds of services. Some are free and some are paid for so I would recommend doing some research into which one would suit you best.

Linkly offer a free plan for under 1,000 links per month.

2. Here is the overview of the free plan.

3. Once you are set up with an account you will need to log into Linkly.

4. Click "Create New Link" to create a new tracked link.

5. Click the "https://www.example.com" field and input the url destination of the webpage you wish to direct people to.

6. You'll then see a whole variety of different targeting fields where you can track which country or device people are using the link from.

7. Click "None" to keep it simple for the first try.

8. Click "Save Link"

9. You'll then be given a shortened url as highlighted below. Copy this so you can paste into your emails or website.

10. Click "Copy" to copy it.

11. You can then paste this into the correct image in your email communication.

12. This will allow you to accurately track exactly how many clicks and engagement the link is getting.

13. Copy and Paste the link into the required field.

14. If you are doing this for some of your club sponsors you will be able to report back to them with exactly how many people you have driven to their website and prove return on their investment.

15. Click "UPDATE" to save.

16. You can also embed these links in your website. You can add them to any page in your website that is relevant but to add these to your sponsorship logos click "OUR SPONSORS".

17. Click "Edit Page"

18. Click "EDIT" on the appropriate sponsor

19. Replace the url with the new tracked URL.

20. Click "SAVE" when finished. Now everytime someone clicks on this they will be directed to the sponsors website through your tracked link.

21. Go back to Linkly to view your stats.

22. Click on the link your wish to view and click on "Report".

23. You'll then be able to see the total number of clicks over a certain time period.

24.

25. As well as clicking through other breakdowns of the traffic generated via that link.

Tip: This is a great way to show ROI to your sponsors and growth revenue from sponsorship.
